Refunds and cancelling

Last updated 26 August 2026

Who you are dealing with. Follow the Chords is run by legal name to be filled in, at registered address to be filled in. Write to support@followthechords.com about anything on this page and you will get a reply from a person.

The whole policy in one paragraph. Seven days free with no card. Cancel a subscription whenever you like and keep the trainer until the period you paid for ends. Ask within 30 days of any payment and you get that payment back, with no explanation needed. After 30 days, ask anyway and we will look at it.

The free trial

Every new account gets the whole trainer free for seven days. No card is asked for and no card is held, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing can be charged by mistake. When the seven days end the trainer stops opening and nothing is taken from you. You choose whether to pay.

Cancelling a subscription

Cancel a monthly or yearly subscription at any time. Two ways:

Cancelling stops the next payment. Cancelling does not cut you off on the spot: you keep the trainer until the end of the month or the year you have already paid for and the trainer stops opening after that. Your practice record and your licks stay on your account and come back if you return.

Getting your money back

Within 30 days

Ask within 30 days of a payment and that payment is refunded in full. That covers a first payment, a renewal you did not want and a one off payment for permanent access. No explanation is needed and nobody will try to talk you out of it.

After 30 days

A renewal you did not notice, a subscription you have not used, a fault that spoiled the thing you paid for: write and say so. These are looked at one at a time and are usually refunded. What is not refunded is a subscription used properly for months and then regretted.

How to ask

Write to support@followthechords.com from the email address on the account and say which payment you mean. You will get an answer within three business days. Paddle sends approved refunds back to the card or account the payment came from and the money usually appears within five to ten business days depending on your bank.

Your legal right to change your mind

If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Union, the law gives you 14 days to cancel a purchase made online and get your money back. Digital services are an exception: the right ends once you start using the service, if you agreed to start straight away.

We do not rely on that exception. The 30 day promise above is longer than the 14 days the law requires and covers the same ground, so you never have to work out which one applies. Your statutory rights stand whatever this page says.

If Follow the Chords stops working

If the site is broken for more than three days in a row and you are paying, that time is added back to your subscription without you asking. If Follow the Chords closes down for good, everyone paying monthly or yearly gets the unused part of their period back, everyone who paid once for permanent access in the last twelve months gets that payment back and everybody gets at least 90 days' notice and a working Back up button before the site goes.

Prices, tax and your currency

Paddle is the merchant of record and works out the VAT or sales tax for the country you are in, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay, with nothing added afterwards. Prices are shown in your local currency where Paddle supports it. Your bank may charge you for converting currency and that charge is between you and your bank.

Chargebacks

Please write to us before asking your bank to reverse a payment. A chargeback costs us a fee and takes weeks and an email gets your money back faster. An account with a chargeback against it is suspended until the matter is settled.
